End of Course (EOC) Information
This Spring, students will have the opportunity to take various assessments specific to their grade level, course(s), and/or to meet graduation requirements. GPISD has applied for a state waiver to lessen the number of students in our buildings on specific testing days to assist with the safety of our students and staff.
EOC (End of Course)
The State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness End-of-Course (STAAR EOC) assessments will be administered for eligible students. STAAR EOC measures mastery of the statewide curriculum in Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II and U.S. History.
Students take STAAR EOC assessments as they are completing the corresponding courses since these assessments are required for high school graduation (TEC §39.025). A student who does not pass may retake the assessment during the next administration to meet graduation requirements.
If your son/daughter is enrolled in one of the following courses or has failed to meet the passing standard on a previous EOC exam, they will be enrolled to take their exam(s) on the following dates. More information will follow as we get closer to these dates. The following list includes the subjects and dates of testing:

STAAR EOC will be taken on a school issued iPad and the student must be on campus. Students are to bring their fully charged GPISD issued technology device and charger to campus on their scheduled testing date.
There is no state option for taking a STAAR EOC assessment from home, so virtual learners are invited to campus. Transportation will be available for students that qualify for GPISD transportation and meals will also be available. Virtual learners will need to please complete the following link to indicate testing and transportation.
End-of-Course assessments (EOCs) at the high school level does have implications for students since, under current law, students are required to perform successfully on EOCs to meet graduation requirements. Although many students may have future opportunities to take EOCs prior to graduation, we believe that it is important for students to participate in EOCs at the conclusion of the teaching of the course. Please contact your child’s campus for additional questions about STAAR EOC.
