JROTC

✪ South Grand Prairie Warrior Battalion ✪
Honor Unit With Distinction from 2002-2025

The Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program teaches high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. The mission statement reflects the overall meaning and purpose of JROTC, which is "To motivate Young People to be Better Citizens" by preparing high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges of American citizens. To dispel rumors and misinformation, the JROTC Program is not a military recruitment course, but rather a character development course aimed to encourage students to be the best version of themselves in every aspect of their lives.

JROTC is an exciting program which refines aspects of character, education, student achievement, health and wellness, leadership, and diversity. The program is jointly conducted through a partnership between the U.S. Department of Defense and our school district. In addition to promoting citizenship, JROTC also prepares students for postsecondary options including college or the workforce. Through "Cadet-Run" programs and team competitions, students learn invaluable professional skills like leadership, teamwork, time-management, self-discipline and communication.
