Meet
the Directors |

Mr.
Bruce Melville, Director of Bands |
Mr. Melville
comes from Katy High School. Before Mr. Melville was at
Katy, he was the Director of Bands at Wharton Junior College.
He has also been an instructor at San Jacinto and North Harris
College. He is a low brass man, specifically trombone. His
undergraduate degree was completed mostly at University of
North Texas and finished at University of Houston. He received
his masters in Music Theory from University of Houston. Well
known in the Houston area as a professional player, Mr. Melville
wrote the Jazz curriculum for Katy ISD and his jazz band
took 2nd place this past year at the Music and Arts National
Jazz Band contest. Katy High School was a 2006 Grammy Signature
School due to the efforts of Mr. Melville. His bands have
taken a 1 for the last four years at UIL. He is the current
region jazz chair and has conducted and served as a clinician
for both high school and college bands. He conducted the
TMEA Junior College All-State Jazz Ensemble. His extensive
contacts in the band world have resulted in many guest artists
appearing in front of his students.

| A
saxophonist, Mr. Goble is a graduate of Lancaster High School
and was a member of its award winning band program under the
direction of Mr. Joe Dolkos, which included a UIL State Marching
Finals appearance. As the Associate Director of Bands, his responsibilities
include assisting in the coordination of the Band program at
South Grand Prairie and team-teaching alignment for the Middle
School Band cluster. His instructional duties include directing
rehearsals for the Symphonic I Band and Marching Band, assisting
with Wind Symphony, Concert I & II Bands, Jazz Band and teaching
beginning woodwinds. Mr. Goble holds a Bachelor of Music degree
from the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to his appointment
at South Grand Prairie, Mr. Goble has held positions in Killeen
ISD, Electra ISD and has taught saxophone privately in Eagle
Mountain-Saginaw ISD. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf
and spending time with his wife Margarita and his son Ethan.
Mr. Goble’s professional affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha
Sinfonia, the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters
Association, and the Association of Texas Professional Educators. |

May comes to us from Baylor University. A dynamic percussionist,
Mr. May
is a former member of the Phantom Regiment, former member and
current instructor of Surround Sound and current member of the
Dallas Mavericks Drum Line. |
