The Grand Prairie ISD Instructional Media program provides lifelong learning skills for 21st century learners. The program ensures that all staff and students are empowered with information literacy and emerging technologies through collaborative lessons designed with Instructional Media staff. The love of reading and literacy is fostered by providing access to both print and electronic resources.
"The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information." -- Information Power: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs, 1998.
From the beginning we teach, train and support students in their book and library adventures through teacher/librarian coordinated lessons, stories and research activities. A flexible schedule allows students, staff and parents to use the library throughout the school day. However, parents may find that before or after school is the best time to access books. Students are encouraged to visit the library at the point of need. Our student-centered library encourages students to be independent, responsible and enthusiastic library users.
