Career & Technology Department

The Graphic Arts program at SGP became an accredited PrintED program on May 12, 2008. PrintED is administered by the Graphic Arts Educational and Research Foundation (GAERF).
This is a national accreditation and certification program, based on industry standards, for graphic communications courses of study at the secondary and post-secondary levels.
Students are enrolled in the program for two school years and cover over 438 related competencies. Upon completion of the program, students with 80% completion of competencies are eligible to take the exit test in order to receive certification. Certification has become an important career credential for students and employers. Certification offers immediate value to enhancing job advancement, increasing job security and improving compensation. For those who are pursuing further education, certification can result in the granting of college credit.
The SGP Graphic Arts program started the process in October 2006. The final results were achieved May 12th with a pass rate of 100%. Senior Graphic Arts II students will be taking their certification exit test the week of May 19th.

ONLY 4 other high schools in Texas have this accredited course.
Congratulations to Ms. Merveille, Mr. Stephens, and their students!
