11th Grade English Language Arts

English III students will continue to refine their writing skills using the reading/writing workshop with an emphasis on developing complete, coherent pieces that reflect voice and original thought. Students will reinforce their skills at revision, editing, and proofreading. Various multicultural genres of American literature (including stories, essays, dramas, novels, poetry, and informational text) will be read, analyzed, and interpreted within historical context. Students will practice making reading/writing connections and learn to read across multiple texts for meaning and purpose. As a part of learning to communicate effectively, students will also practice speaking and listening skills and study the concepts of viewing and representing.
